It’s Just Plain Skullduggery, Folks!

It all began with just five words. You shall not surely die. Belief in these words fractured the very nature of man. Fellowship with God was lost; separation ensued. Previously every word of man was trustworthy. The nature of communication had been forever changed. Some folks believe we have over come this malady; People are no longer cheats and liars. They simply miscalculate and misspeak. Today, we must look out for number one., Consider the command of King Herod, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. (Matthew 2:8) This man had no desire to worship Jesus. His order to execute children under the age of two was just a way to protect himself and his position as king.

Matthew also teaches us about Satan’s attack upon Jesus.  After forty days and forty nights of fasting, and Jesus was very weak, Satan’s deceptive plan was a set in motion. Listen carefully; perhaps you have experienced a similar temptation. Are you hungry? If you are the Son of God, make bread from these stones. If you are truly the Son of God throw yourself off this temple, wall and angels will catch you. Do you want wealth and power? If you will bow down and worship me, I will give you the kingdoms of this world. Do you recognize the pattern? Satan's promises lead to certain destruction!  It was not about food, power or prestige. It was skullduggery plain and simple. Skullduggery means to deceive or trick. Satan thought that Jesus was too weak to stand against his scheme. He desired to use the very Son of God to achieve his own personal goal. Satan wants to be like the most God.

Readers beware! Satan seeks to entrap you in his deadly plan. Every thing we see, every article we read and every place we go the presence of evil is there. The Greeks have a word called skandalon.  In English, it means trigger or stumbling block. Every one knows that if you squeeze a trigger you set in motion series of events that cannot be changed. These events never seem to be what we had planned.

Plans for the 2010/2011 school year at HBI are well under way.  Please, keep us in your prayers.

Until next time ….
